About this recipe
A warm fruit-and-ginger tonic for the throat, immunity, and the first sign of a cold.
Ingredients
- 8 oz mixed fruit juice (apple, pineapple, grape, mango, ginger), warmed to 180–190°F (vitamin C)Nausea relief — supports Digestive · Immune & Defenses
- 3–4 coin-sized slices fresh ginger (or 1 tsp grated) (gingerols)Nausea relief — supports Digestive · Immune & Defenses
- 3–4 whole cloves (eugenol)
- ¼ teaspoon salt (electrolytes)
- 1 tablespoon raw manuka honey (methylglyoxal)
- juice of ½ lemon (vitamin C)
Method
- 1 Warm the fruit juice with the ginger slices and cloves to 180–190°F, then cover and steep 5 minutes.
- 2 While still hot, stir in salt until dissolved.
- 3 Allow to cool to about 140°F.
- 4 Stir in raw honey and lemon juice.
- 5 Sip slowly over 15–20 minutes per mug, holding each small sip at the back of the throat. Repeat 3–4 times daily — especially first thing in the morning.
