Trikatu Honey (Three Pungents)
This blend helps kindle digestion and clear kapha.
Heating: don't take with hot drinks (heating the honey destroys enzymes and is considered ama-producing). Pitta types or anyone with acid reflux should start with very small doses or skip. Avoid in pregnancy. Don't give honey to children under 12 months. Not for ulcer-prone constitutions.
About this recipe
The classical *Trikatu* formula — three pungent spices (long pepper, black pepper, dried ginger) suspended in raw honey. The three together are considered the most efficient agni-kindler in Ayurveda — drying out kapha congestion, stimulating digestion, and clearing ama. The honey vehicle is *yogavahi*, carrying the heat where it needs to go. Take 1/4 tsp before meals when digestion feels sluggish or congestion is settling in.

Tips & storage
Best in cold/damp seasons. For winter colds, take a small amount with warm tea (not hot). Long pepper (pippali) is the key ingredient — without it the formula is incomplete; black pepper alone won't substitute.
Room temperature, tightly sealed; lasts 6+ months.
