Important — read before making

STRAIN TWICE through fine filter — sediment will scratch the cornea. Use only distilled water — tap water introduces microbes. Make fresh each time; do NOT store the strained liquid. Stop and consult an eye care provider if you experience pain, redness, or vision changes. Don't use during active eye infections without provider guidance.

About this recipe

*Triphala Netra Tarpana* in simplified household form — a cooled Triphala decoction strained meticulously and used as an eye wash for tired, strained, or dry eyes. Classical Ayurveda places eye health under Triphala's domain; the same formula that gently detoxes the gut also tones the connective tissue of the eyes. Must be strained to crystal clarity — any sediment irritates.

Classical Ayurvedic formula — adapted with respect for the original tradition.

Ingredients

Method

  1. 1 Bring water to a boil, add Triphala powder, simmer 5 minutes.
  2. 2 Cool fully — at least 30 minutes.
  3. 3 Strain through coffee filter or several layers of cheesecloth into a clean bowl. Then strain a SECOND time. The liquid must be sediment-free.
  4. 4 Pour into a small clean eye cup (or shot glass).
  5. 5 Tilt head back, place cup against the eye, open eye into the liquid, blink several times.
  6. 6 Repeat on the other eye with a fresh portion. Discard remaining liquid.

What you'll notice

  • Eases tired or strained eyes after screen days
  • Gentle support for chronic dry eyes
  • Cools hot, red, irritated eyes
  • Use weekly, not daily
  • Strain the liquid completely before using

Tips & storage

Tip

Best weekly, not daily. After a day of intense screen work or in dry seasons, this can ease eye fatigue noticeably. The classical Ayurvedic practice (Netra Tarpana) involves a ghee dam around the eye filled with herbalized ghee — this household eye wash is the much simpler entry-point.

Storage

Do NOT store the strained liquid — use immediately. The dry Triphala powder stores 1-2 years airtight.
