Calendula & Honey Skin-Soothe Salve
A gentle calendula-and-honey balm for minor, closed-over scrapes and dry healing skin.
For minor, CLOSED-OVER skin only — not for open, deep, infected, or non-healing wounds, and not for anyone with diabetes or circulation problems without a clinician's okay. If skin is at all broken, any honey must be sterile/medical-grade; raw kitchen honey is not sterile. Patch-test first; skip the essential oils (or use a fragrance-free version) during pregnancy and for young children. Not a substitute for medical care.
About this recipe
A soothing, protective salve for minor healing skin — calendula-infused oil, a touch of medical-grade honey, beeswax, and gentle skin-repair oils. For closed-over skin only, with a clear list of what it is not for.
Ingredients

- 1 Tbsp beeswax, grated (forms a protective barrier)Balm and salve base — supports Skin
- 1 tsp sterile medical-grade honey (optional) (antibacterial · humectant)

Method
- 1 Gently melt the calendula-infused oil and grated beeswax in a heatproof bowl over barely simmering water, stirring until fully liquid.
- 2 Take it off the heat and let it cool for 2–3 minutes — too much heat degrades the honey and the delicate oils.
- 3 Stir in the honey (if using) until evenly dispersed, then the rosehip seed oil and vitamin E.
- 4 As it just begins to thicken, stir in the lavender and helichrysum essential oils.
- 5 Pour into a clean, dry tin or small jar and leave to set at room temperature until firm.

Tips & storage
Don't have it? No calendula-infused oil — steep dried calendula in olive or jojoba oil for 2–4 weeks, or use plain jojoba/olive oil (you keep a gentle base, minus the calendula benefit). No helichrysum (it's pricey) — leave it out or use frankincense. No rosehip seed oil — sweet almond or jojoba works. No beeswax — use a little candelilla wax for a vegan balm, or less wax for a softer salve.
Store in an airtight tin in a cool, dark place; best within 6–12 months. Keep water out of the jar. Discard if it smells off or changes texture.
