Shirodhana Oil (Third-Eye Pour)
This medicated oil helps with deep nervous-system rest.
Oil temperature critical — comfortably warm, never hot. Test on your inner wrist before each pour. Eyes closed throughout. Have towels under and around your head; this is messy. Pregnancy: avoid (too intense). Don't do alone without practice — needs a steady-handed partner. The oil is hard to wash out of hair — plan to shower after.

*Shirodhana* — the practice of pouring warm oil in a slow stream onto the third-eye for 20-30 minutes — is one of the most profound nervous-system reset practices in Ayurveda. This is the DIY home version of the medicated oil. Best done occasionally rather than daily; even one session has noticeable effects on sleep and anxiety for many people. Best with a partner pouring while you lie on a towel.

Method
- 1 Combine herbs and sesame oil in a small saucepan on lowest heat.
- 2 Warm gently 45-60 min — oil should be warm but never bubbling.
- 3 Cool fully, then strain through cheesecloth into a dark glass bottle.
- 4 Add the lavender once at room temp.
- 5 To use: warm 1/2 cup of the oil in a heat-safe container (bowl placed in hot water). Lie on a towel with a partner. Have the partner slowly pour a thin stream of warm oil onto the third-eye area for 20-30 minutes, with gentle side-to-side motion. Keep eyes closed. Rest afterward.
