Important — read before making

Patch test for sensitivity. Pregnancy: avoid rosemary EO (can stimulate uterus in large amounts); the herbal infusion is gentler. Coconut allergy: substitute olive or jojoba. Don't apply to broken scalp.

About this recipe

A classical Ayurvedic-style infused hair oil — hibiscus for shine and follicle support, nettle for mineral content and scalp health, rosemary for circulation. Warm and massage into the scalp 1-2x per week, leave on for 30 minutes or overnight, then wash out. Builds hair density and pre-empts greying over months of practice.

Classical Ayurvedic formula — adapted with respect for the original tradition.

Ingredients

Method

  1. 1 Combine the carrier oil and dried herbs in a small saucepan.
  2. 2 Warm on lowest heat (or in a double boiler) for 45-60 minutes — oil should be warm to the touch, never simmering.
  3. 3 Cool 30 minutes off heat.
  4. 4 Strain through cheesecloth into a clean glass jar. Press the herbs to extract every drop.
  5. 5 Once oil is at room temp, add the rosemary EO and cap tightly.

What you'll notice

  • Supports hair growth over months
  • Strengthens the hair shaft
  • Calms a dry or itchy scalp
  • Slows graying with sustained use
  • Weekly scalp massage IS the practice

Tips & storage

Tip

Apply to dry hair before washing. Warm slightly between palms first. Massage scalp 3-5 minutes — the massage is half the medicine (circulation). Leave 30 min minimum; overnight under a cotton wrap or shower cap deepens the effect. Wash with castile or a mild shampoo.

Storage

Dark glass, cool, capped. 6 months.
